The clock has run out and today reaches the deadline for The Cultural Heritage Commission's 180 hold on demolition of the Sunset Strips landmarked Lytton Savings and Loan building. The building was originally designed by architect Kurt Werner Meyer and was one of the earliest examples of the "transformation shift" in post war-er bank design.
The site is slated to be the home of the new Frank Gehry designed mixed use complex on corner of Sunset and Crescent Heights. During the hold, the developers discussed a location to relocate the iconic building but to no avail.
And so the construction begins referred to as "the eastern gateway to West Hollywood's famed Sunset Strip."
